About Lonavala station

Lonavala is the northern terminus of the suburban service, a hill station at 622 metres where the line reaches the top of the Deccan escarpment before the dramatic Bhor Ghat descent towards Karjat and Mumbai. It is a full junction station with three platforms and ten tracks, handling long-distance expresses as well as the Pune locals, and it has been substantially redeveloped in recent years with solar panels, rainwater harvesting and a round-the-clock cafeteria.

Worth knowing

Trains back towards Pune run late — the last leaves at 23:40 — but the evening gaps are long. Check the return board when you arrive, not when you are ready to leave.
