About Pune Junction station

Pune Junction is the southern terminus of the Lonavala local and by a wide margin the busiest station on the line. It is a major junction on the Central Railway, handling long-distance trains towards Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru and Howrah alongside the suburban EMUs, and it is where most Lonavala locals start their run. Suburban services generally use the platforms at the Pune-city end of the station, so allow a few extra minutes if you are changing from a long-distance train.

Nearby and useful

• Pune Metro's Purple Line connects at Pune Railway Station, giving direct access to Shivajinagar, the Civil Court interchange and Swargate
• PMPML city buses and the main auto/taxi ranks are directly outside the main entrance
• Booking counters, ATVMs and a UTS-registered smart card top-up point are all in the main hall
• Left luggage, retiring rooms and waiting rooms are available on the main concourse

Worth knowing

This is the only station on the line where you can be certain of getting a seat on a Lonavala local, because almost every service starts here. On weekend mornings in the monsoon, that is worth boarding here for even if you live nearer Shivajinagar.
