About Akurdi station

Akurdi serves Akurdi, Nigdi and the large Pradhikaran planned township to the north. It is a notably student-heavy station, thanks to the engineering and polytechnic colleges nearby, and it has grown steadily as Pradhikaran has filled in over the past few decades.

This is the last of the truly urban stations going north. After Akurdi the built-up area begins to break up, the gaps between stations lengthen, and the line starts to feel like a country railway rather than a suburban one.

Worth knowing before you travel

A large share of Akurdi's regular passengers travel on student concession season tickets. If you are studying nearby it is worth asking at the booking counter — the concession is substantial and the paperwork is straightforward.

When the station is busy

The peaks here follow college hours as much as office hours, so the crowding pattern is slightly different from Pimpri and Chinchwad, with a noticeable early-afternoon flow.
