About Dehu Road station

Dehu Road serves the cantonment of the same name, a military town built around a large ammunition depot, and it is the nearest station to Dehu itself — the birthplace of the seventeenth-century saint-poet Tukaram and one of the most significant pilgrimage sites in Maharashtra.

That second role transforms the station at certain times of year. During the Palkhi season, when the procession carrying Tukaram's padukas sets out from Dehu towards Pandharpur, traffic through here increases enormously and the ordinary commuter pattern disappears for several days.

Worth knowing before you travel

If you are travelling during Ashadhi Ekadashi or the Palkhi period, expect very heavy crowds and allow far more time than usual. At any other time of year this is a quiet station.
