About Chinchwad station

Chinchwad is the principal station for the MIDC industrial estate and one of the highest-footfall stops on the Pune–Lonavala line. Generations of factory and engineering workers have commuted through it, and the daily pattern still shows clearly: heavy loads into Pune in the morning, heavy loads outward in the evening.

The area around the station is fully built up, with markets, coaching classes and paying-guest accommodation catering to the commuting and student population. Chinchwadgaon, the older village core, lies a little away from the industrial development and is worth seeing for the Morya Gosavi temple, an important Ganesh shrine with a devotional tradition several centuries old.

Chinchwad is around twenty-four minutes from Pune Junction on a standard local. That is reliably faster than the same trip by road at almost any hour of the working day, which is why the station stays busy even as car ownership in the area has risen.

When the station is busy

Expect a crowd at the Pune-bound platform from about 07:30 to 10:00 on weekdays. Weekend traffic is much lighter and is more likely to be people heading out towards Lonavala.
