About Khadki station
Khadki serves the cantonment of the same name, one of the oldest military establishments in western India, along with the ordnance factory belt and the Range Hills area. It is a quiet station with a steady flow of defence and factory staff at the shift-change hours, and very little traffic in between. The station retains a good deal of its colonial-era railway architecture.
Nearby and useful
- Khadki cantonment, the ordnance factories and the Khadki War Cemetery are all nearby
- Auto-rickshaws are usually available outside, but not late at night
- Aundh and Bopodi are a short auto ride away
Worth knowing
Khadki is roughly ten minutes out of Pune Junction, which makes it a practical alternative boarding point if you live north of the river and want to avoid the traffic into the city centre.
