About Khadki station

Khadki serves the cantonment of the same name, one of the oldest military establishments in western India, along with the ordnance factory belt and the Range Hills area. The station has a distinct rhythm: busy at the shift-change hours as defence and factory staff travel, and notably quiet in between.

The cantonment was established in the early nineteenth century, and a good deal of that period survives in the surrounding streets — low colonial bungalows, wide tree-lined roads and a street grid that feels quite unlike the rest of Pune. The station itself retains some of its older railway architecture.

Worth knowing before you travel

Auto-rickshaws are usually available outside during the day but thin out considerably late at night. If you are arriving on one of the last services, arrange transport in advance.

When the station is busy

About ten minutes out of Pune Junction, which makes Khadki a practical alternative boarding point for anyone living north of the river who wants to avoid the traffic into the city centre.
